Accessibility.
Tell us what you need.
SydeDoor should work for people of every ability. This statement covers the website and the programme, including what isn't right yet.
1. The website
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site has been checked by us, not independently audited, so we don't claim full conformance. We have built it to include:
- text alternatives for meaningful images, and videos that are hidden from screen readers because they are decorative;
- a clear heading structure, with real links and buttons;
- layouts that adapt to screens from phones to desktops;
- reduced animation if your device asks for it;
- content that stays visible with JavaScript turned off.
2. What we still need to fix
We know about these issues and are working on them:
- Background videos play automatically, and there is no pause button. They have no sound or essential information, but the movement can be distracting.
- Some small labels and footer text may not have enough contrast.
- There is no "skip to content" link, and most older pages don't yet mark their main content area for screen readers.
- The waitlist form is hosted by Tally, so we don't control all of its accessibility.
If any of these gets in your way, tell us and we will find another way to help, including taking your waitlist details by email.
3. Live sessions
SydeDoor is virtual-first and live. Sessions include a live show, breakout rooms, team work and hot seat feedback. Tell us what would help you take part, for example with captions, materials in advance, breakout room arrangements, keeping your camera off, or more time for a task. Anyone can take part off-camera.
4. In-person events
In-person editions are coming soon, and venues aren't confirmed yet. Before you book, we will share what we know about step-free access, toilets and other facilities at the venue. Where a venue isn't suitable for someone, we will tell you as early as we can and look at alternatives.
5. Asking for an adjustment
Please tell us as early as you can, ideally before you book. A member, parent or guardian can ask. We will talk it through with you, make reasonable adjustments, and keep what you tell us confidential, sharing it only with those who need it to support you. You don't pay extra for an adjustment. Our privacy policy explains how we handle this information.
6. Feedback and contact
Found a barrier, or want this page in another format? Email joao@sydedoor.com. We aim to reply within five working days.
